Obituary of William Preston West Sr.

William Preston West, Sr., age 80, of Gilmer, Texas and former Delta County resident for 50 years, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at his Gilmer residence surrounded by the family.

William Preston was born in Ben Franklin, Texas on September 7, 1937 to C. Preston West and Marjorie West Deaton. They preceded him in death as well as his step-Dad Doil Deaton and brother Roddy West.

William Preston married the love of his life, Patsy Bettes West on September 24, 1960.

He served his Country in the National Guard, was Director of Delta Roping Club, the first President of Cooper Chapter of Young Farmers, member of Cooper FFA Livestock Judging Team at Houston Livestock Show, a Charter Member of Frontier Cowboy Church and a retired rancher.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy West, 3 sons; Bill West and wife, Tera of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Bob West and spouse, Ronnie Jones of Porter, Oklahoma, Bud West and wife, Angie of Porter, Oklahoma. 4 grandchildren; Korey Perry Reeves of Greenville, Texas, Cody West of Campbell, Texas, Lauren West Harris of Campbell, Texas and Montana West of Williston, North Dakota, 5 great grandchildren, and cherished friend James “Bubba” Collins of Diana, Texas.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Frontier Cowboy Church, 2791 FM 593, Gilmer, Texas.
