Obituary of Martha Ruth Anderson

Martha Ruth “Caffall” Anderson 88 of Caldwell, Texas passed away Saturday May 12, 2018.

Graveside services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday May 17, 2018 at Oaklawn Cemetery with Mark Moore officiating. 

Martha was born April 26, 1930 in Port Arthur, Texas to James McKinley and Pauline Grace “Early” Caffall.  They have preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, James Walter Anderson, daughter; (Meg) Margaret Anderson Brown and husband Trey, two sons; Sid Anderson, Scott Anderson and wife Pamela, and seven grandchildren: Robert Brown and wife Laura, Zack Brown, Sara Brown, Grant Anderson, Allyse Anderson, Ryan Anderson and Aiden Anderson.

Martha had been a member of the International Order of Rainbow Girls in High School.  She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1948, then attended Lamar Jr College.  She continued on to Sam Houston State University and earned a Bachelors in Elementary Education in 1953.  She and James Anderson met while both teaching at Pasadena I.S.D. and they married June 27, 1959.  She took time off to raise three children before resuming teaching at White Oak I.S.D. in 1967. She earned her Master's degree in Education from Stephen F. Austin University in 1974.  She retired from teaching in 1985.  During retirement she was a member of the Deep East Texas Aggie Moms Club, and enjoyed sewing, crochet and baking.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Amy Anderson Literacy Legacy Fund of College Station ISD or the Martha Anderson scholarship fund at the White Oak Education Foundation of White Oak ISD.
