Obituary of Jerry Lee McFadden

It is with great sadness that the family of Jerry Lee McFadden, 75, of Cooper, Texas announce his passing on Friday, November 2, 2018.

Jerry was born at home in Delta County to Mr. and Mrs. Troy McFadden. He was the youngest of their four sons.  Jerry graduated from Cooper High School in 1961 where he lettered on the varsity football team.  Upon graduation, he attended East Texas State University in Commerce where he also played football as a member of the Lions.  While still in college, Jerry began his long career in the fire prevention industry at LaDew Fire Protection, Inc. where he was named President in 1991 after many years of service.  Upon his departure, he operated his own fire prevention company until retirement.

Jerry married Nancy Willson, also of Cooper, Texas, on September 8, 1963.  Together, they raised four children: Jerry Dale, twins Damon and Dana, and Jennifer.  Jerry and Nancy nurtured Jerry Dale’s early interests in music that led to his career as a recording artist; coached and supported Dana and Jennifer’s active softball interests; and Damon’s early love of the theater.  Jerry was a loving and attentive grandfather to all of his grandchildren: Jake, Anna Lee, Jesse, Chloe, Keifer and Neo.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Nancy.  He is also survived by his children:  Jerry Dale McFadden and his wife, Eva, of Mulheim Germany; Damon Lee McFadden and his partner, Shayne Hart, of Prairie Grove, AR; Dana James and her husband, Sean, of Allen, TX; and Jennifer Zinn of Commerce, TX.  He is also survived by his six grandchildren and great-grandson:  Jake and Jesse Zinn; Anna Lee and Chloe McFadden; Keifer Moore; Neo McFadden; and Wyatt Zinn.  Other survivors include family members: Charles McFadden and wife, Lezette, of Sachse, Texas; Helen McFadden, of Cooper, Texas, and his many nieces and nephews.  He is also lovingly remembered by close friends and chosen family:  Nikhil Jeevaraj and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Mobley.  Finally, Jerry is predeceased by his brothers, R.W. McFadden, Vanoy McFadden and his sister-in-law, Agnes.

Family will receive friends and loved ones, Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. at Delta Funeral Home with a memorial service immediately following in the Chapel with Reverend Joe Ed Goolsby officiating.
