Obituary of Francis Jean Stratton

Francis “Jean” Stratton passed away on January 25, 2019 in Lawton, Oklahoma.  Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the Delta Funeral Home Chapel in Cooper, Tx.  Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 12-2 Saturday prior to the service.

Jean was born February 4, 1935 in Cooper to William Cullen and Orval Lee “Nelson” Cockrum.   Her parents were cotton sharecroppers and she grew up picking cotton.  Later, she worked at the Janes Hospital doing front desk duties and helping as a nurse when needed.  Married at 17, Jean spent the next 20 years as an army wife.  She loved living overseas and various parts of the US.  She and her family settled in Lawton in 1973. 

Jean’s most cherished role was that of being a mother.  She shared with her children her love of all kinds of music and old movies.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and a warm beautiful smile. 

Jean is survived by 2 sons, Monte Stratton and Angie Freed, Dallas TX and Jeff and Millie Stratton, Oklahoma City, OK; and a daughter, Kim Stratton, Lawton OK; brothers Dan Cockrum, Canton, TX and Bill and Raylene Cockrum, Fruitvale, TX; sisters Femioulia Wakefield, Tyler TX and Mary and Terry Bandy, North Richland Hills, TX., grandsons Benjamin and Jana Stratton, Loveland, CO and Joshua and Rachel Stratton, Guthrie, OK., granddaughters Lily Dunning, Howard, CO and Morgan and Jacob Cutter, Oklahoma City, OK., great grandsons Marley, Hayden and Owen Stratton and great granddaughter Finley Stratton and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sons, Stephen and Scott and daughter Tanna.
