Obituary of Billy Joe Burchell

Billy Joe Burchell, 87, of Cooper, Texas passed away Monday, March 25, 2019.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 28 at New Hope Church in Cooper.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday March 27, 2019 at the Delta Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Dean Eudy officiating.  Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Pallbears will be Beau Neal, Gary Neal, Donnie Bookout, Jim Wininger, Bill Choate and Bobby Irvin. Honorary Pallbears are all of Joe’s New Hope Church family.

Joe was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico on June 18, 1931 to Willie and Kathrine “Glover” Burchell. They have preceded him in death as well as a brother, Frank Burchell. Joe was a Nuclear Welder for Rockwell International and he loved and was well known in the community for his gardening. He married Betty Stunkard on June 4, 1950, they were married 68 years.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Burchell; son, Michael Burchell and wife, Marion, of Plano, Texas; daughter, Susan Draper and husband, Robert, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 3 grandchildren; Jennifer Kathrine Garcia and husband, Andrew; Joseph Michael Burchell and wife, Melissa and Jacqueline Elizabeth Burchell, 4 great grandchildren; Brett Joseph Burchell, Jasmine Natalie Burchell, Grayson Michael Burchell, and Weston Durham Burchell.
