Obituary of Myrtle Dorothy Day

Dorothy Day (Maw Maw), 93, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Stillhouse Rehab and Healthcare Center in Paris, Texas.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2019 at Delta Funeral Home Chapel with Noel Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Cooper. Family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m. prior to services at Delta Funeral Home Chapel.

Dorothy was born June 12, 1925 to Lula Blevins and John Claude Davis. She married C.W. (Buck) Day August 17, 1941, who preceded her in death in 1985.

She was a long time member of Cooper Church of Christ. She was manager of Davenport’s (later Bewley’s) 5 cent & 10 cent variety store for many years, then worked at Delta Funeral Home for 20 years.

She enjoyed flowers, her yard, and baking for others.

She is survived by two daughters, Teresa Shaffer and husband, Joe Bob; Laquieta Lawrence and husband, Don; Four grandchildren, Brandi Stager and husband, Patrick, Sunny Calvin, Lori Pickett and husband, Jim and Clint Lawrence. Maw Maw was blessed with four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to Delta County Library or charity of choice.
